Using "Password123" in 2026 is the digital equivalent of leaving your front door wide open with a "Welcome" mat and a map to the safe. 🗺️🔓
The NCSC says it’s time to leave passwords in the history books next to floppy disks and dial-up internet. Passkeys are here to save your sanity (and your data).
At BMS Cyber Defence, we make sure your business security is smarter than a 5th grader—and definitely smarter than a hacker.

NCSC: Leave passwords in the past - passkeys are the future
Passkeys are the more secure and user-friendly login method and should be the default authentication option for consumers.
AI Agents Move Into Production, Governance Gaps Remain.
As AI agents begin to operate within live services and business processes, strong governance is becoming critical. New frameworks such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) 2.0 improve control through scoped authorisation, structured tool use and human‑in‑the‑loop decision points, supporting auditability and risk reduction.
However, gaps remain around identity assurance and prompt manipulation, reinforcing the need for additional controls to meet UK Government security, data protection and operational resilience expectations. Industry experts state that when the first high-profile AI incidents occur, market expectations will shift rapidly toward governed deployment.
Organisations with mature frameworks will scale confidently while competitors pause to retrofit controls.
AI agent security: New governance framework shows progress, but critical gaps remain
New AI security framework shows progress, but seven critical vulnerabilities still need your attention.
NCSC advises UK organisations to take action following conflict in the Middle East.
In response to the evolving events in the Middle East, the NCSC is advising UK organisations to review their cyber security posture.
The alert explains that while there is likely no current significant change in the direct cyber threat from Iran to the UK, there is almost certainly a heightened risk of indirect cyber threat for those organisations and entities which have a presence, or supply chains, in the Middle East.

Rise in state‑sponsored activity on UK Firms Amid Cyber Warfare Fears
Stryker, a major U.S. medical technology company was hit, wiping tens of thousands of employee devices globally and disrupting manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare delivery.
The attack was claimed by “Handala”, a pro‑Iranian hacking group widely assessed by agencies and vendors to be linked to Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).
Over half of UK companies were hit by nation‑state cyberattacks in the past year, according to Armis’ 2026 Cyberwarfare Report. The findings show a rise in state‑sponsored activity driven by geopolitical tensions and growing use of AI by attackers.
While 92% or respondents are concerned about the impact of a full-scale cyber war, 76% said they believe state actors could cripple critical infrastructure worldwide. Most UK IT leaders fear cyber warfare could escalate and damage critical infrastructure, yet many organisations lack the skills or budget to deploy AI‑enabled defences, leaving them increasingly exposed to sophisticated state actors.
